Arura Illóolaj Manufaktúra – Ildikó Amrein

Arura Illóolaj Manufaktúra was founded by a local couple, Anna and László, who called on a close friend, Ildikó Amrein, to lead the project with her expertise. Ildikó, the master distiller, is not only leading with her vast knowledge and experience but with her heart and love for plants. She is kind, caring and generous and also, a very keen gardener and an expert aromatherapist. Ildikó and Anna met through their studies of Buddhism and you can find little touch of that in the gardens in the shape of Buddha statues and prayer flags.

Arura has two locations, first their garden in the heart of Zselica, not far from my studio, and then their distillery in Szigetvár. We visited not only these two beautiful places but also Ildikó in here elements, in her own garden.

Arura’s garden although not certified organic they grow everything in that mindset, taking care of the land, and the environment. They have a nice variety of plants like hyssop, chamomile, melissa, mint, thyme, yarrow, sage, and clary sage. They turn into the most beautiful hydrosols and essential oils amongst the caring hands of Ildikó in Arura’s own distillery.

When you take a look at Ildikó’s own large garden then you understand even better that connection and love she has for nature and which leads & inspires her in the work she is doing and the life she is living.

In her garden you can find a kitchen garden full of edibles and herbs all planted in a shape of a spiral. A wildlife pond with water lilies, and magical lotuses. A little orchard. A wildflower meadow. And her very new creation is a labyrinth planted out with different herbs. Plan magic is everywhere around Arura and with their products in my creations too.
